congratulation to the perfect organisation of the ToC 2010. Our Team Herzlichst, Zypern and our travel agency FBI looking forward to help you, to become more participants in 2011.

Our team rider Daniel Schlegel (winner of the 3rd stage) gave me a realy positive response. Perfect roads, perfect hotels, perfect organisation, a good mix of tourism and racing...this is what Cyprus cycling needs!!

On friday, I have a first meeting with a german cycling magazin to organise a big road cycling event in Cyprus.

If you have fix the date of the ToC. 2011, I´ll arrange the cycling camp around the ToC date and will over one or two weeks with the ToC package.

έδινε κύπελλα σε άσχετους μετά το τέλος του αγώνα. Δεν ξέρω κατά πόσο έμπειρος ήταν αλλά σίγουρα καταλαβαίνω ότι ήταν δύσκολη η διοργάνωση τέτοιου είδους αγώνα. Άλλο ένα σημείο που πολλοί ποδηλάτες δυσανασχέτησαν ήταν που ποδηλάτες του Β γκρουπ και μερικές φορές και εκτός αγώνα ακόμα μπαίνανε στο 1ο γκρουπ και μας δυσκόλευαν την κατάσταση.
Προσωπικά σίγουρα θα ξαναερχόμουν στο Γύρο της Κύπρου και φυσικά ότι στήριξη θα χρειαστείς από εμένα θα την έχεις. Σίγουρα σε εκτιμώ σαν άνθρωπο και έκανες μεγάλη προσπάθεια για τη διοργάνωση.

Έχω επιστρέψει ποια στην Ρόδο και στην δουλειά και θα σου γράψω τις εντυπώσεις μου από τον αγώνα.
Αρχικά πέρασα απίστευτα και ήταν κάτι που θα θυμάμαι όλη μου την ζωή.
Ας τα πιάσουμε όμως ένα ένα.
Θέματα οργάνωσης πάρα πολύ καλά. Φοβερή υποστήριξη από μηχανές και εθελοντές.
Πάντα υπήρχε κάποιος και ήταν πολύ ευγενικοί. Ακόμα εξαιρετική υποδοχή από το αεροδρόμιο και φυσικά εσύ πάντα πρόθυμος σε ότι χρειαζόμασταν να μας στηρίξεις.
Φοβερή οργάνωση στην μετακίνηση και πολύ ωραία διαμονή στα ξενοδοχεία .
Τώρα θα μου πεις για τα ατυχα περιστατικά στη λήξη του αγώνα με αυτόν που κλείδωσε τα ποδήλατα και το ξενοδοχείο το μπέρδεμα με τα δωμάτια αυτά συμβαίνουν πιστεύω και κάποιος έχει εμπειρία καταλαβαίνει.
Τα <<μελανά>> στοιχεία της διοργάνωσης αν μπορούμε να πούμε. Η αδιαλλαξία τοτ THOMAS ενώ ήξερε ότι είχαμε δίκιο. Πολλές φορές σαν προπομπός έσπαγε τα γκρουπ το οποίο είναι λάθος. Μεγάγα διαλλέιματα για feeding station με αποτέλεσμα να παγώνουν τα πόδια μας και να μην έχουν μέγιστη απόδοση στον αγώνα. Ακόμα παρέλειψε ο THOMAS να βραβέψει την γενική των ομάδων και

I just wanted to say thank you for organising last week. It was really amazing - I had a fantastic time, (as soon as I stopped being ill). In particular the Doctors, Harley drivers, AWOL couple and other volunteers were just amazing.

I'm really hoping to come again next year.

I am writing to those who like me are neither professional riders nor young and wonder about the tour, those who are just looking to have a great time riding along with others that will motivate you to do your best.

Certainly I was not prepared a 100% for the tour, thanks to the 2 groups A and B ( I was on the B) and the sweep bus I was able to finish the first 2 days by riding the bus for the last Km. then I could do the last 2 days all of it and finish without injuries.

Looking at the pictures you can see how beautiful the landscape of Cyprus is in the spring, the excellent weather we had, the hotels we stayed, the food, all made it such an experience you would like to repeat year after year, provided your health will permit.

Certainly you end the tour motivated to get the next time in the group A and promise yourself will train for it.

I have no complains only good things to say about the organizers and the volunteers and wish many of us do realize that some even had little sleep just to make sure we would ride safely the next day, we also need to jump into helping as well, not only giving our recommendations but rather being active part of those volunteers for 2011. This way you will not only enjoy the Tour of Cyprus but will feel proud of being part of those making this event someday an internationally renowned one.

I hope next year we will see more people in my category (over 60 years old) as well as more ladies, this way we will be able to share the excitement of this wonderful experience.

Dear All,

I'd like to add my voice to the many others praising the TOC. It was the first multi-stage race/sportive I've done, and what a great way to see Cyprus! The routes were excellent, and the organisation very professional - clearly much work had been put in during the preparation, and I'd like to thank all those involved. As many others have commented the motor bike escort was superb, and along with the police involvement it made it as safe as it could possibly be.

Having a timed section each day was an excellent idea as it allowed one to chat and enjoy the views for most of the ride, but then also enjoy some racing. I especially enjoyed the fast and furious flat stage on the last day - gave us 'fat boys' a chance to keep up with the leaders!

Here are some of my suggestions for possible improvements next year:

I think it was generally agreed that the waiting time at the starts and feed stations was a little irksome. At the end of a timed section maybe a solution would be to form a second group from those arriving after the cut-off time so the first group could get going after say 15mins?

I agree with Chris Fitzpatrick's comments that the evening de-briefs could have been shorter, since many people (me included!) were keen to get to bed. Maybe the detailed information could have been made available on paper in advance, and the meeting then used for questions and the fun stuff, like photos and presentations?

I also agree with Chris that a max of 2 people per room would be preferred, and it would also be good to find a way to reduce the check-in 'scrum' for room keys and finding out where to put bikes etc.

I'd really like to see it extended to a 5 day tour so we could go up to Troodos (which I did before the TOC). The tour would then have covered all the best bits of Cyprus!

(continued) - the last day, shortly after the end of the stage, a meal: party: let get drunk together should be organise together with the podium and again a quick show of the best videos/photos of the week. all the above are not critical but advises/suggestion to help you for next year. from my point of vieuw, i didn't hear one single complaints from all the participants, everybody was very very positive about the toc . We formed a little family during 47 days with a lot of nationality mixing. It was very nice to all the nationalities mixuing up for the love of the bike. also the various stages were fantastic, i really liked the small roads and the climing in the moutains together with the sceneri and a lot of people (excluding myself :) really also enjoyed the last flat stage and to be able to stay in the first pack untill the end so you should try to keep a flat stage at the end. If you are not sure to carry on for a second year , i can only suggest you to keep on going. The best publicity is from mouth to mouth and i am sure that next year you will at the very least triple the numbers of participants. From a continental point of vieuw, it is very interresting to do the TOC in march as you can have sun/great senery / climbing and have a first 'test yourself" session after the long winter training. So it will be very appealing to continental riders. Everybody goes every year to either Palma De Majorque or Rimini for one week training camp and i am sure if they had another alternative ( with some racing) they would not hesitate. From my point of vieuw, although i will come back for sure next sure, i don't think that next year will be as good as this year as it will be very difficult to keep it as intimate as this year ! I have been doing stages races for the last 4 years ( 3 times Transalp ( 7 days stage race through the alps with 1.000 participants) and 1 time the transaustria ( same as transalp but in austria only for 7 days). when i came to cyprus i didn't know what to expect as i have to admit that your web site was not very sexy designed and not too clear. For me it wasn't that important as i was considering the TOC as a training week as i only have to peak at the end of june for ... another transalp. I must say i was really impress by your organisation. For me it was really perfect to have a neutralized start , a time race and than a neutralise session again as from a (continental point of vieuw) we are coming out of a very long and cold winter and we haven't really started to race yet. there are very few things i think you need to improve but here are a couple of suggestions : - maybe to do a 5 stage ( or rather a first stage with an individual time section)- not to start the timing session before a descent, much too dangerous and not really worth it- shorter feeding station stops ( i think all the participants agreed that the stops were too long)- maybe one longer time section stage ( ie the first day we could also have included the first climb as everybody went a bit in the red in that first climb- everyday a printed copy of the results for each participant at the debriefing/briefing for the next day- during the debreifing/briefing in the evening, the pictures/videos of the day could be showed - (important) the time section details were not clearly enough explained during the briefing. It is important to clearly explain the timing section to the racers ( ie first climb : approx x km at approx x % average, than a descent of x km etc). A little denivelation ( climbing) graph of the timing section would be nice too. - the last day, shortly after the end of the stage, a meal: party: let get drunk together should be organise together with the podium and again a qui

Thanks for a great time, but having had to share with Paul & Chris, my wife is coming along next year. Double edged sword though because she'll be hiring a motorbike & chasing the Harleys.

I sent an email before the day before Guest Book was set up detailing a few suggestions & improvements.

I'd also be really interested in a training program to make the grade to Group A and also a mountain training weekend in November. Can Thomas assist?

The tour of Cyprus has finished already, just as everything you enjoy does. For me this tour was another great experience where I got to see cyclists from all over the world and enjoy cycling with them. Also I got to see a lot of nice bicycles with all kind of shapes and sizes.
The whole organization, event was a complete success and for that I would firstly like to thank Andy for his incredible effort to make the event. Then I would like to thank Thomas our second director, the amazing Harley Davidson people who acted as our guardian angels through the whole ride. All of the rest of the volunteers that where there for us and to make it short, thank you all for making this event possible.
I hope next year it will be as good or better and that more cyclists from all over the world and from Cyprus join in the tour of Cyprus.

I think these are the best advertisements you can have for the Tour. Those persons writing and article in the magazines are the ones that could multiply the participants and lift the tour to an International event, It would be sorth to find other writers in other magazines inviting them to the 2011 tour, If you want I volunteer to help you contacting them.

I really enjoyed the Tour of Cyprus. It was my first multi-day event, and I found it to be very well organised, good roads & escort riders, and a very friendly atmosphere.

Suggestions for next year: As per the other comments below I though we were sometimes waiting around too long during the day. It would be nice to get the riding completed with with less delays.

The Tour of Cyprus was a terrific event and I will have great memories of the experience.

Amazing variety of routes, the chance to challenge yourself on the timed sections, good safety escort (lead car, motorbikes, and police), good hotels with nice breakfast and evening buffets, enthusiastic organizers

SUGGESTIONS

Reduce waiting time between sections, offer more award categories such an 'average joe' or 'sportsmanship' category, do the rider briefing before or during dinner

Thank you for a wonderful 4-days of cycling that offered something to everybody involved and which met all of the goals & objectives set by the organisers.

On the positive side

The routes were excellent; markings were clear; the Harley Team/marshals were fabulous; police support was very good; overall organisation was outstanding.

On the negative side

Evening briefs were too long and scheduled too late; the last day of the ride could have started later and there was far too much waiting around.

Constructive feedback

Information on topics such as room numbers, route details, timings for the next day (baggage drop off-gather outside with bikes-set off) etc…. could all be displayed on a board in the hotel lobby.Briefs/presentations could be better prepared & less verbose.Room numbers should be kept to minimum of 2 people per room – (3 is 1 too many!)

Once again, thank you for organising such a wonderful cycling event.
